Northern Night Designs
This dramatic surface is created using two separate types of glaze.
The darker base is an “oil spot” glaze created under high, quick heat that causes iron components to burst at the surface and leave glistening or sparkling highlights.
Added to this is a lighter crystalline glaze, which creates a luminescent Northern Lights effect when it melds in the kiln with the darker glaze.
